Kafo – giant Meccano set built over a weekend
TDT and Sheltee had a busy weekend building a Kafo double column machine tool at a Midlands customer keen to be up and running as soon as possible.
After a month on the water, the Kafo BMC-3122 docked at Folkstone last weekend, unloaded and cleared customs by Wednesday then delivered to the customer in three containers at 8am, 10am and 12pm on Thursday.

In two hour intervals, Sheltee unloaded the containers, drilled and grouted, then positioned the base of the machine.
By Saturday morning the base was down and rough levelled, columns, crossbeam and ram were all assembled and in place.

TDT will have at least two service engineers onsite at any time to complete machine commissioning and alignments over the next week or so.
A Kafo engineer has also popped in for a week after finishing decommissioning machines at EMO.

A great performance over the weekend by all involved on the machine install to be ready for the commissioning team on Monday morning.
TDT are fully aware of our responsibility to the environment and commission the removal and recycling of any packaging. There is an enormous amount of packaging with every machine and we take every care to ensure the customer isn’t left with a pile of recycling to deal with after the machine delivery.
