The VTS series of vertical turning lathes are designed with a fixed type cross-rail, incorporating both Automatic Attachment Changer (MC)+ATC tool magazine to reduce non-cutting time. This design has high production efficiency, provides the best solution to complex machining functions, and meets a wide range of applications. This machine is especially popular in the aerospace industry due to its accuracy and the use of Capto tooling, see video.
The vertical lathes feature heavy Meehanite cast iron construction, rigid, extra large box ways, and large diameter pre-tensioned ballscrews. All mating surfaces are coated with Turcite-B and then hand scraped for perfect fit and alignment. The VTS series machines feature Timken Cross Roller table bearings for best rigidity and precision. High power spindle motors coupled with ZF planetary gearboxes provide high torque for heavy metal removal.
The YV series machines are economical and suitable for most general-purpose applications. VTS machines are available with 1,000mm, 1,200mm, 1,600mm, 2,00mm, 2500mm, 3,000mm and 4,000mmtables as well as tool changers and contouring C axis with live milling is optional.
The VTL-3000 and larger machines are a double column design, and the optional C-axis features a dual spindle motor/dual pinion drive, providing nearly zero backlash and the most accurate C axis positioning and repeatability available.
